Frequently Asked Questions

Workshops, demos, and make-n-takes

Hand-dyed yarn in progress!

When will I find out what workshops, demos, and make-n-takes are available?

Because all workshops, demos and make-n-takes at the retreat are facilitated by attendees, we won’t know what activities will be available until after registration closes in August.

In late August or early September, we’ll send you an email with a form where you can choose your first and second choice for each timeslot. We aren’t able to place everyone in their first choice for every spot, but we’ll do our best to give everyone several options they’re excited about. A couple weeks before the retreat, you’ll get a personal email letting you know which session you have a spot in.

Do I need to pay for any of the workshops, demos, and make-n-takes, or prepare in advance?

Some workshops charge a small materials fee, or ask you to do homework or bring materials with you. Many are free and require no prep. We’ll let you know a couple weeks before the retreat if you need to prepare anything for any sessions you have a spot in. If there is a materials fee, please bring the exact amount in cash; there will not be time for facilitators to make change or run electronic transactions. Any fees are paid directly to the facilitator.

Should I sign up for every timeslot?

You can express interest in as many or as few activities as you like. We want to make sure everyone who expresses interest gets to try at least one workshop, so you may not get a spot in every single session. If you’re not interested in workshops, or don’t have anything during a timeslot, there are lots of other fun things to do around Camp Ida-Haven, and there are always friendly folks working on projects together in the common areas.

What if I want to lead a workshop, demo, or make-n-take but I’ve already registered?

You’re welcome to sign up to teach a workshop anytime before registration closes in August. Email info@fiberloveretreat.com with a description of your 60-75 minute workshop, demo, or make-n-take.

Camp logistics

When should I plan to arrive at Camp Ida Haven?

Check in at the main lodge on Thursday, September 17th from 4pm to 9pm. Your dorm or cabin number will be in your registration packet.

Dinner on Thursday night will be served from 6:30-7:30 to allow for travel time and settling in. If you are going to arrive before 4pm and would like to get unpacked, please email info@fiberloveretreat.com. Please do not arrive before noon.

How will I know where I am supposed to be if I’m a volunteer?

At registration, there will be a sheet inside your packet with a description of what is needed for the task you volunteered for, where you’ll go, what time you need to be there, and who you’ll be helping. Thank you for going the extra mile to make the retreat experience amazing!

Can I change my mind about staying in the dorms or a cabin?

You bet!  We want everyone to be comfortable.  There is room in most of the cabins still, and possibly another dorm room. Offsite campers are welcome–and even get a discount. Email info@fiberloveretreat.com for help with accommodations.
