Frequently Asked Questions

Workshops, demos, and make-n-takes

Hand-dyed yarn in progress!

When will I find out what workshops, demos, and make-n-takes are available?  2026 WORKSHOP/DEMOS/MAKE-N-TAKES OPEN NOW! IF YOU DID NOT GET THE EMAIL, PLEASE EMAIL LEE AT FIBERLOVERETREAT@GMAIL.COM SIGN UPS WILL CLOSE SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING.

Because all workshops, demos and make-n-takes at the retreat are facilitated by attendees, we won’t know what activities will be available until after registration closes in August.

In late August or early September, we’ll send you an email with a form where you can choose your first and second choice for each timeslot. We aren’t able to place everyone in their first choice for every spot, but we’ll do our best to give everyone several options they’re excited about. A couple weeks before the retreat, you’ll get a personal email letting you know which session you have a spot in.

Do I need to pay for any of the workshops, demos, and make-n-takes, or prepare in advance?

Some workshops charge a small materials fee, or ask you to do homework or bring materials with you. Many are free and require no prep.. If there is a materials fee, please bring the exact amount in cash; there will not be time for facilitators to make change or run electronic transactions. Any fees are paid directly to the facilitator.

How many time slots can I sign up for?

There are 120 attendees.

There are a total of 344 available slots across five session times.  That’s *close* to 3 sessions per person. Every effort will be made to give everyone who wants to take classes at *least* 2. If space allows, we will add folks to their 3rd and possibly 4th choice.

What if I want to lead a workshop, demo, or make-n-take but I’ve already registered?

You’re welcome to sign up to teach a workshop anytime before registration closes in August. Email info@fiberloveretreat.com with a description of your 60-75 minute workshop, demo, or make-n-take.

Camp logistics

When should I plan to arrive at Camp Ida Haven?

Check in at the main lodge on Thursday, September 17th from 4pm to 9pm. Your dorm room/cabin number or RV spot has been emailed to you. Retreaters can arrive anytime after noon; you can unpack your gear, hang out on the ground, however, we request that you do not go any of the buildings before we open the doors at 4:00. This includes the balcony off the main lodge. If you require assistance with getting luggage up to your dorm room we will have someone available to help you after registration check in begins.

Dinner on Thursday night will be served from 6:30-7:30 to allow for travel time and settling in.

How will I know where I am supposed to be if I’m a volunteer?

Volunteers will receive an email from Amanda, the volunteer wrangler as well as being listed on your registration packet with the description of what is needed for the task you volunteered for. This retreat couldn’t happen without all the volunteers, so thank you for helping make this an amazing weekend.

Can I change my mind about staying in the dorms or a cabin?

2026 is pretty full in the dorms and cabins, so moving people will be challenging at this point.

Can I bring pets?

We love our furry friends, but please leave yours at home. Camp policy is “no pets” and we wouldn’t want to trigger anyone’s allergies or run the risk of animals getting into mischief.
